Hi I updated this laptop and am having trouble finding drivers. In particular, the graphics driver, which is an Intel HD graphics 5500, which I believe is chip embedded, so the drivers from Intel  won't work, although I tryed. For some reason HP doesn't have any drivers for this laptop on site.

Device manager says this device requires further installation. Any advice or direction will be much appreciated. I do have my old drive, which is failing enough I can't clone, but I can access it; however, I don't know what sp file might be the chipset, as there are several.

Hi:

HP is in the process of retiring support for your notebook since it is 10 years of age.

Below is the link to the latest Intel HD graphics driver HP released for your notebook:

Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver

20.19.15.5058

sp92322.exe

While you still can you may want to get some of the important drivers from the base model 17-g100's support page which HP hasn't taken down yet.

Hi @Rick919

You can also try this newer version

Thanks for the reply and information. I did d/l all the applicable drivers. While the sp92322 installed the drivers, it still shows further installation. Is there something else I need to do?

You're very welcome.

What does the graphics adapter's status show in the device manager.

If it indicates installed and working properly, no further action should be necessary.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it would not install I was referred to a drive that did partially work. It was installed, but said further installation was needed. Not sure what's missing? The driver I installed is  Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver   20.19.15.5058    sp92322.exe

well, it says device working properly However in Device Manager it is dropped down with a little yellow dot. I found nothing to substantiate that and no errors in the event log.  Perhaps it's OCD kicking in lol

There's something wrong because the display adapters device manager category should have been closed and not showing the Intel HD graphics adapter with any kind of yellow ! mark or whatnot.

The only other suggestion I can offer would be to try manually installing the last Intel graphics driver that Intel released for the HD 5500 graphics.

I wrote an article several years ago for how to do that and have copied and pasted those instructions below:

First, create a system restore point so that you can roll back to the current graphics driver you have installed, just in case the updated driver does not work to your expectations.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027538/windows-create-a-system-restore-point

Next, download and save the latest Intel HD graphics driver 64-bit ZIP file from the link below. This is the last driver update Intel released for the 5th gen core processor graphics:

3rd one on the list.

Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

Unzip the graphics driver file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

To unzip the file, right click on the graphics driver zip file you downloaded and select Extract All.

Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk and browse to the unzipped graphics driver folder>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.

Be patient, as it can take a few minutes for the driver to completely install.

When the installation is finished, restart the PC.

To update the Intel HDMI audio driver to the latest version, go to the device manager, click to expand the Sound, video and game controllers device manager category.

Click on the Intel HD audio device listed there.   Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the unzipped Intel graphics driver main folder.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver will install.

Then restart the PC.

You can try using DDU to remove the graphics driver, and then, once that's done, try reinstalling the drivers.

Hi I gave it a go and got that driver installed, but with the same results. This driver is actually an earlier version that was installed. Now I am confused as what to do, if anything
