ELITE X2 1013 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey

I have HP Elite x2 1013 G3 (https://www8.hp.com/de/de/laptops/product-details/21019707) and would like to use three external monitors each with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels.

The Monitors I use are the E243i (https://www8.hp.com/de/de/monitors/product-details/17210325).

I am using the Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2 docking station (https://store.hp.com/GermanyStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=2UK37AA&opt=ABB&sel=ACC)

To connect the three monitors I use 2x DP cable and 1x DP alternate mode cable.

The System is up to date, all by HP provided drivers are up to date. I even tried using newer ones from intels website itself.

Windows updates are up to date, too.

I can make two monitors work with the desired resolution, the third monitor newer goes over 480*640 pixels.

But then again there is this thread (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/3-external-Monitors-on-HP-Elite-x2-10...) in which the person aparently managed to run three monitors, he doesn't even mention any resolution problems.

Switching the altermode cable with a VGA cable changes nothing, the result is the same.

Is this setup even possible to run three external monitors, I would have thought so because of the provided video outputs.

Solution: Don't take the top USB / Thunderbolt port. Use one of the lower ones.

Big impact, simple solution.
