Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

Hello!

I recently bought an HP Pavillion laptop, but I've faced several problems. The laptop has an intergated AMD Ryzen R7 5700U chip with AMD Radeon Graphics. However, once I updated the Display Adapter, every 10 minutes I would get a blue screen (Clock_Watchdog_Timeout). I reversed the update and the system automatically began using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Yet, when using the Microsoft adapter, the brightness is set on the highest and cannot be changed, and thus draining the battery very quicky. I've tried everything recommended on various different websites, but nothing fixes the problem. I'm so frustrated because I paid a lot for this laptop, considering that I'm a university student, but now I'm stuck with a screen that literally destoyes my eyesight. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Possibly this was a problem (bug) with the display or laptop going to sleep due to inactivity. Disabling sleep might have helped.

I assume the system was working OK until the update.   You can try using a restore point from the time it was working.

There was a recent BIOS release Aug 3, 2022 due to win11 feature update of 22H2

make sure you are running version F.11

What is your product ID including the 3 letters after the # symbol.  Possibly a cloud restore might be needed
