I understand that you have an HP Pavilion g6-2161so Notebook. I read that you're unable to upgrade to Win8.1 due to a problem with video card drivers.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

• Do you receive any error while trying to upgrade to Win8.1?
• Where did you find the drivers (sp63691)? Because these drivers are not available at the HP website for your laptop.

Secondly, I did some research and found that Win8.1 should be able to install the graphics card drivers by itself.

I think the drivers you mention should help. Though these drivers install as 7520G N 7520G + 7670M dual graphics, do they work fine?

It works, but it gets very hot. 

windows 8.1 find drivers automatically, but for windows 8 with wddm 1.2

To fix laptop overheating issues, I suggest you to perform the steps from this HP document. This document contains steps in detail to fix overheating related issues.
