I have an OMEN by HP Laptop 16-c0506la (4A146LA) that comes with a Radeon RX 6600M, it's brand new, I started using it yesterday and I have problems with the secondary screen that I have connected via HDMI, it's working, it flickers and goes black in pieces.
I have updated Windows, the latest version of the BIOS. and the problem continues.
I've been reading on the forum and there are several users with OMEN computers with the same video card and the same problems.
Does anyone know how to solve it or is it a hardware failure problem?

Hi @cpoblete,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
The flickering and intermittent black screen issues with your secondary monitor connected via HDMI on your OMEN by HP Laptop 16-c0506la (4A146LA) could be related to a number of factors, including driver issues, hardware conflicts, or settings misconfigurations. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check the HDMI Cable and Connections
- Inspect the HDMI Cable: Ensure that the HDMI cable is properly connected to both the laptop and the monitor. Try using a different HDMI cable to rule out a faulty cable.
- Test Different HDMI Ports: If your monitor has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the cable to a different port on the monitor.
2. Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers
- Update Graphics Drivers:
- Go to the AMD Drivers and Support page and download the latest drivers for your Radeon RX 6600M.
- Alternatively, use the HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates.
- Roll Back Drivers:
- If the issue started after a recent driver update, consider rolling back to a previous driver version.
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager), expand Display adapters, right-click on AMD Radeon RX 6600M, and select Properties.
- Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver if the option is available.
3. Adjust Display Settings
- Change Refresh Rate:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down and click on Advanced display settings.
- Select the monitor that is flickering and adjust the refresh rate to a lower value if possible.
- Adjust Resolution:
- In Display settings, ensure that the resolution is set to the recommended value for your monitor.
4. Check Power Settings
- Power Management Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings for your selected power plan and then Change advanced power settings.
- Expand PCI Express and Link State Power Management, and set it to Off.
5. Disable Hardware Acceleration
- Some applications use hardware acceleration, which can cause screen flickering.
- In Settings > System > Display, scroll down to Graphics settings.
- Disable hardware acceleration for specific apps or try using the system default settings.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @cpoblete ,
Please find the remaining steps below.
6. Test in Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 during boot-up to access the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select Safe Mode and check if the flickering issue persists. Safe Mode loads minimal drivers and can help identify if the problem is related to third-party software or drivers.
7. Check Monitor Settings
- Monitor Refresh Rate and Settings:
- Access the monitor’s on-screen display (OSD) menu and check for any refresh rate settings or other options that might affect display stability.
8. Test with Another Monitor
- Connect a Different Monitor:
- If possible, connect another monitor to your laptop using HDMI to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the laptop or the original monitor.
9. Consider BIOS and Firmware Updates
- Recheck BIOS Settings:
- Although you mentioned updating the BIOS, check if there are any additional firmware updates or settings related to graphics or display in the BIOS.
By systematically following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the flickering issue and find a suitable solution.
Since you mentioned that other OMEN users are experiencing similar issues, it might be worth reaching out to HP Phone Support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

I had already done all the steps indicated, including updating the BIOS. I also restored the computer to factory settings.
And the problem continues.
I need an urgent solution, since I use the notebook to work with Autodesk programs and I can't.
