I have
HP Pavilion dv6, Product Number WZ563PA#ACJ
Intel Core i5CPU M450 @2.40GHz
System Memory: 4GB
slot 1: 2GB Hynix 1067MHz
slot 2: 2GB Hynix 1067MHz
System Board: 144A 65.38
System Bios: F.29 - 11/07/2011 ( 048E100000242B10000020000 )
Video:
the HP Support Assistant reports the following:
Graphic Device 1: Intel HD Graphics
Version: 8.771.1.0 (09-09-2010)
But on the case of the laptop it is written:
ATI Mobility Radeon Premium (something more after that, but is illegible now)
So I run the HP System Information and then it gives the following :
Name Intel(R) HD Graphics
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_144A103C&REV_02\3&11583659&0&10

Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\atikmpag.sys (8.14.1.6143, 272.50 KB (279,040 bytes), 09-09-2010 17:52)
Windows 7 Home Premium
My Laptop suddenly started giving a 'hang' when starting. so I went to the safe mode and disabled the video driver and then it started working. As the label is illegible to read, I am having difficulty in identifying the 'Number' of the ATI Mobility Radeon. The AMD site has a software to install and detect the card, but it is reporting that no ATI card found. So I have to disable ATI (Catalyst) and Intel drivers to get my laptop to start.
Kindly tell me how to get back my video graphics drivers so that I can use my laptop efficiently in photoshop and dual monitor.
Thanks in advance

You're very welcome;
Your PC has the switchable graphics configuration...AMD HD 5650/Intel HD.
You would need this driver, which will install both the Intel and AMD graphics adapters.
You will have to use Internet Explorer to download the file, which means you will have to log into the Forum using Internet Explorer instead of Edge.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50640.exe
Unfortunately, it's not going to do you a bit of good since the AMD chip has burnt out, and the GPU has disappeared from the device manager.
The driver won't install because it won't be able to find the AMD graphics adapter.

Hi:
It appears from what you wrote, that the AMD graphics chip has overheated over the course of time, and has become damaged.
That is why the graphics driver won't install.
Time to replace your notebook.
It would be throwing good money after bad, paying to replace the motherboard on an 11 year old notebook.

Paul, your advise is really good. Unfortunately its time where my economic conditions do not afford me a new one. So I am running the show, as one can say. Any solutions to overheating may save further damages to the laptop. Also if there is a way I can identify the exact ATI Radeon card that my laptop may be having so that I can try download the appropriate driver ? Thanks

Sending the link and the explanation was very generous of you! Thank You!
I downloaded and installed the driver, - the laptop stopped / hanged upon starting after downloading the driver, so I disabled the Intel Video in the Device Manager in safe mode, after which the laptop started working again.
Taking hints from your replies, I got my laptop serviced for Fan cleaning, thermal pastes etc. and I find that heating has reduced considerably!
Thank you once again!
