Hi there, bought my laptop from John Lewis in 2019 (water damage) and it got damaged on holiday. It’s covered under travel insurance but I need an experts report for my insurers. How can I get it checked and the relevant information for my insurer. Thank you!

HP Support won't look at a seven year old (out of warranty) computer, not even for the purpose of directing you to other coverage.

Checking the system is "just short" of repair -- if you need an "expert" opinion, perhaps take the computer to a local repair shop and ask for a diagnostic check service.

Diagnostics are not generally free but usually cost less than diagnostic service plus necessary repairs.

If your insurance agrees to let the shop also complete the repairs, you might make a deal with the shop for the initial cost of the diagnostics to be rolled into the total cost of the repair and then billed to the insurance.
