HP Envy 360t 13t-Y000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The ambient light senseor on my laptop needs to be adjusted.  It seems to register the light as much too bright making my camera over compensate and make things dark.  I also had to go into the power and screen settings to set a custom setting so that the screen would not dim.  I received a recent update to the BIOS and that only made it worse and now it without the custom setting the screen would flicker high and low over and over again.  I have set my skype to the highest brightness level and that has somewhat worked for my office during the day with windows and light all around, but there is no room in this setting now for when I am in a room that is slightly darker.

I can only think that becuse these two things are linked that the ambient light sensor needs a calibration of sorts.  How can one get deep into the system to do this?

Many thanks,

Ed

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY x360 - 13t-y000 laptop. I read that the webcam. It registers the light as much too bright making the camera over compensate and make things dark. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job. I'd like to assist you with this case.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

Please test the webcam by following the steps from this link

Also, please perform the steps mentioned under "Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, etc.)" from this HP document. These steps help to fix webcam related issues.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how this goes. Cheers! 🙂

Greetings and thank you for your reply and assistance.  I have gone and chaecked that driver and attempted to update it, but it is up to date.  At this time I have set the brightness to the maximum level to have the camera work.  With this setting, the colors are not true and it looks unnatural.  I just bought this computer and it is in warranty.  What is my next step?  I had the BIOS updated and have reset the system to factory settings and it still does not work.
