When I connect an external monitor to my laptop, the external screen randomly switches on/off (signal/ no signal) for no obvious reason. Tried all sorts of troubleshooting in the past weeks:
> implemented latest windows updates
> updated drivers
> ran HP diagnostics -> all system test passed / green
> used 3 different HDMI cables, perfectly working with other devices (HP and non HP devices)
> tried 3 different monitors (2 Benq, 1 Dell), perfectly working with other HP laptops (2 of these monitors are less than 2 years old - no issues in combination with other laptops)
> contacted the monitor manufacturer's helpdesk (Benq) and ran all resets that are possible on an otherwise perfectly functioning monitor which is still under guarantee (you never know)
Nothing really seems to help. Sometimes the monitor works fine for an extended period (1h or so) just to start switching off/on out of the blue.
So I'm done troubleshooting myself. By elimination, my only conclusion is that the HDMI port hardware is malfunctioning. Does anyone had a similar experience, or can someone come up with an unexplored path to a possible solution?
Thanks in advance!
