At times the words/letters get shaky and the screen will flash on and then darken.  I usually have to shut the system down and them restart.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve these problems:

 

1. Update Display Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support site.
  • Enter your product name or serial number: HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-da0000.
  • Click "Submit."
  • Select your operating system, then expand the "Driver-Graphics" section.
  • Download and install the latest drivers for your display/graphics.

2. Update BIOS HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Support

  • Navigate to the HP Support.
  • Enter HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-da0000 and go to "Software, Drivers, and Firmware."
  • Select your operating system.
  • Expand the "BIOS" section and download the latest version available.
  • Follow the instructions to install the update.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and battery, then turn on the laptop.
