Hello everyone

First, I'll have to excuse myself for my writing since english isn't my native language, but i'll do my best to explain the problem i'm having

I've been having issues lately while trying to use gaming software such as Discord and Steam. Everytime I'm using these apps, after a minute or two, I get this BSoD

BSoD.jpeg

Code: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION (atikmdag.sys)

From what I've read on internet, the error might be related to my GPU (AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M)

The thing is that a friend of mine did a complete reboot on my laptop and installed all the drivers for this pc, but it seems that i've been having compatibility problems with the GPU driver. The driver he installed for the GPU was an old one (from 2015) I believe, and that seemed to be causing the BSoD showed above. Afterwards I tried updating the driver with the latest version, but it seems that my laptop isn't recognizing my GPU (Code error 43)

And since I used DDU to uninstall the latest version of the driver to try with older ones, I can't get back to the 2015 version, where I started having issues with this software

So, the thing is, Should I just keep trying with older versions of the driver until I find one that makes Discord and Steam work without the BSoD, while also being able to play the games i was playing with a normal fps rate? Do I have this issues since my laptop is kinda old and the drivers for Win10 are not actualized? should I go back to Windows 7 or 8?

The thing is, the official HP site doesn't shows video drivers for this laptop and os: https://support.hp.com/cl-es/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-15-Notebook-PC-series/5354982/model/5393864

So, I had to download the GPU driver from the AMD site or find it through the windows driver search tool

Any kind of feedback or suggestion is appreciated and it would be sweet to hear from someone who's been having a similar issue

Thank you very much

EDIT: It seems that all the images I uploaded didn't work, so I added imgur links for the images

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait at least five seconds with the computer in a full off state.

  2. Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second, until you see the Windows loading screen.

  3. If a language selection screen opens, select the language you want to use to continue.

  4. On the Choose your keyboard layout screen, select the keyboard layout that matches your keyboard type.

  5. On the Choose an option screen, click Troubleshoot.

    Choose an option: Troubleshoot

  6. Click Advanced options, then click Command Prompt.

  7. On the Command Prompt, type wmic reconverts set AutoReboot = False, then press Enter.

  8. Close the Command Prompt window.

  9. On the Choose an option menu, select Continue to boot normally.

Windows restarts with automatic restart disabled.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
