Hello there. I live in the UK and uniquely HP have given up responsibility for warranty work to the vendor, in my case Currys/PC World. I contacted them one last time and they suggested that i get an engineers report to confirm what i had been saying. I found a local company to do a report which did confirm that there were bright spots and that it was likely due to a defective LCD screen. Currys/PC World accepted this report and the laptop and gave me a full refund. It was a real battle but it eventually worked out for me. Can i suggest you take a long exposure photograph of the screen problem so that it is more apparent to somebody looking at it. The bright spots on my screen were only really visible in a darkened room with the backlight turned up full. Good luck.
