HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a partially lit keyboard, the bightest is the Windows, all others are very dim.  The suggestions of the  **** and F5 key does not help at all.

Any suggestions,

Thanks,   Dona Caryl

@Rosemud

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

For an accurate solution I'll need more details:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: Click here

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.)

When was the last time it worked without these issues? was the entire keyboard lit before this issue occurred or was this always the case?

Also, did you update the BIOS and/or the Chipset drivers to resolve the issue? If not, please click here and do the same.

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

Eager to help!

To thank me for my efforts to help you,

Thank you for reponding. .  Two codes, are.CT6DGAC,  also [edit].

The PC is 3 years, I beliece.

Went to see what needed to dbe downloaded,  nothing there.

Still have thekeyboard light problem.  In fact, to find the serial and product #, they were inside the battery compartment, not on a lable.  When the battery was put back, and started up ,there is no light @ all on the keyboard .  the F12 ey is dmly lit. Before the Windows key was brighter then the others whick were dim.

I would say that the keyboard lights have been dim for 2 months.  This is not a work PC.

Thanks for responding.

@Rosemud I was hoping you would provide the product number of the computer not the battery alone as that isn't helpful,

that said, I recommend you reinstall the battery drivers using the below steps, followed by updating the BIOS & Chipset drivers: Click here to find and install the same.

1) In the search box, type, and open “Device Manager”.

2) Expand “Batteries”.

3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

4) Click on “Uninstall”.

5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver

6) Shutdown the computer.

7) Remove the battery for a minute and then put it back in.

😎 When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.

9) Go to Device Manager.

10) Expand Batteries.

11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"

Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

I hope that answers your query,
