Hi everyone,
I've installed Windows XP x64 on the hp pavillion g6 1233sl, everything works fine except for the backlight of the screen. Here's the deal: after installing the driver and rebooting the screen goes black but, if i put a flashlight in front of it, I can see the screen as it supposed to be. I've downloaded different versions of the driver from the intel site and each one of them present the same problem. My question is if you are aware of this issue and if there's any solution for it since this video drive (HD graphics 3000) is common to other hp models.
I hope to hear from you soon,
Thanks
Simone

Thank you for responding,
This is the Riddle_Decipher, again!
If it works fine out of windows, then you've pretty much covered it,
All you need to do is reinstall the Windows or in my opinion, upgrade it and it should resolve the issue.
I'm responding since no one else has, and because I took an oath to help everyone 😉
I hope this works and you have a good day.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
Riddle_Decipher is at your service (Like a Genie, however, without magic powers) 😉
Before we get started I must say, the Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft or HP, and I can only provide limited/Basic support regarding the same, depending on available resources, that said, the drivers from HP is not available anymore.
The best thing we can do is to increase the brightness under control panel > Power options & if that's not working, check if the backlight works fine while the device is connected to an alternate or external monitor if you haven't already:
- If the external monitor doesn't display correctly either, this could be a windows/driver issue and you may want to reinstall or upgrade the OS,
- However, if the external display works fine the internal doesn't work on BIOS as well, you may want to refer to my private message for details on getting your internal display repaired.
That said, please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, using the blue envelope:

I hope your day gets better, good luck.

Dear Riddle_Decipher,
thank you for your answer.
I've already checked and there aren't any options available under CPL->Power
Option, neither in Graphics Options.
If I connect an external monitor (via VGA) and enable it, it works great, but also
the internal screen works (almost) correctly, the only problem is that the light
is turned off!
I think the screen is working correctly because on BIOS and during the boot it
works, it's only after loading the driver (if installed) that it comes black.
I'm able to boot up Windows XP x64 correctly only without the video driver
installed and every device works fine, the os runs smooth but without driver the
video card works slower.
That's why I think it's only a problem related to the driver.
I understand that Windows XP is no longer supported, but I hope someone has
already faced this issue.

Dear Riddle_Decipher,
Unfortunately I've already tried to reinstall Windows, but the issue is always present.
So I understand that there isn't an easy solution to the problem.
Now I will leave the pc as is. If I will ever need in the future I will upgrade the OS.
This makes me sad because now it's very fast and with the correct video driver it would be perfect.
Thank you very much for your help 🙂
Have a good day
