Hello all,
I have a HP Spectre x360 since 6 months. Around my touchpad I can see that the case is getting a bit weird. At the top of the touchpad it is bulging a bit, mostly towards the middle of the touchpad. Also at the right bottom of the touchpad I can feel it is bulging a bit, and also at the left side and below I can see there is getting a bit of a gap between the touchpad and case.
The laptop three times got overheated. Also, since the beginning I had a weird feeling about the battery. The battery time was shorter than I expected, and the estimated time varies a lot. For example, at 50% it can say 6 hours and 30 minutes. Then at 49% it can for example say 10 hours and 23 minutes, or something like 2 hours and 53 minutes. Both are not logical at all. A colleague of mine has a HP laptop, and his estimated times go down like 5 minutes every 1%, while we do more or less the same.
What I normally do is: Whatsapp open, Outlook open, Teams open, file explorer open, Microsoft edge with around 5 tabs, and sometimes Powerpoint/word/excel.
It is logical to say to send the laptop back for repairs, but the laptop is bought in the US and I am living in Colombia. Do not have the plan to visit the US, and sending the laptop is difficult because then I do not have a work laptop for weeks.
My question is, is it probably a battery error? If the battery gets changed, will the case and touchpad find its original form again? And if I let the laptop be repaired by a Colombian repair shop whom is connected to HP, will this be safe and under warranty? For example many repair shops do not have the battery in their magazine, so they need to buy them from the US. But I am scared when they remove the back of the laptop, that the case will not close correctly anymore and I am without a laptop for weeks. So what can I do the best? Thanks for your help!

Hi @Rickvdwijk
You indicate a battery problem, the battery is probably swollen, changing the battery would probably be the solution, without changing other parts.
The part number of the battery is, use that part number in a search engine to find a reseller, although the ideal would be to make use of the battery but being bought the latop in another country HP does not give warranty in your country.

Hi Resistencia, Thank you for your reply. I will not do it myself, not technical at all. But in your experience, will the case finds it normal form again and the touchpad? And how big is the chance that the backside does not closes anymore if they remove it? And probably the store in Colombia needs to buy the part, so the shipment can cost a few days/weeks I guess. You say warranty is only for the US, but on the system it says global?

I had that problem on a laptop of mine, everything went back to normal and the lid could be closed, but you can buy those parts if you want. Leaving the battery in for a long time will cause the battery to deform to such an extent that the keyboard will not be able to recover.

Ok thanks! The problem is, I am now in Peru and will leave in three weeks to Colombia. I am affraid that there is not enough time to let it be fixed here in Peru, because they probably do not have the battery here. In Bogota I have a spare laptop, so I need to wait and work with the laptop for at least 3 more weeks... hope it stays ok without too much damage, it is not getting worse quickly but I can see that every week it gets a little bit worse.

I answer about the Global warranty, that only applies if the model is sold in your country, if not it only applies in the country it is sold. Only Zbook, Elite and business line models are sold in all countries.

I think it is not sold in Colombia, well not the exact model. The 16gb is sold, 32gb not. But I guess all the other components are the same right? I try to find contact with HP US but the chat is not working and they did not respond yet to my email from a week ago. But if I need to pay for the battery, also fine, I just want a solution so that I can finally enjoy my laptop a 100%.

The model must be exact, HP Colombia will not give you the warranty, you have to send back the laptop to U.S. or you can contact an authorized HP dealer to have your laptop repaired at cost.
