Hi @PrincessPri,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how stressful this is, especially after going through a Windows reinstall only to face a black screen. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step and try to bring your HP Envy 17 back to life.

Step 1: Hard Reset

  1. Power off the laptop.
  2. Disconnect the  AC adapter and remove any peripherals.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Plug in the adapter and try powering on.

Step 2: Check for Life Signs

  • Do you see keyboard backlight, power LED, or fan spin?
  • If yes, the system is powering on but not displaying, likely a graphics or BIOS issue.

Step 3: Try External Display

Connect to an external monitor via HDMI or USB-C.

  • If the external display works, the internal screen or cable may be faulty.

Step 4: Access BIOS

  1. Power on and tap F10 repeatedly.
  2. If BIOS appears, reset to defaults:
    • F9 → Yes → F10 → Save & Exit.
  3. Ensure UEFI Boot is enabled.

Step 5: Perform BIOS Recovery

HP laptops have a built-in BIOS recovery:

  1. Power off.
  2. Hold Windows + B, then press and hold Power for 2–3 seconds.
  3. Release Power, but keep holding Windows + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears.

Step 6: Reinstall Graphics Drivers

If you get a display after BIOS recovery:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
