Black Screen at times OR resolution changes. Happening more and more often

I have a HP ENVY Notebook - 17t-n100 CTO (ENERGY STAR), Product M9X66AV.  I have started having problems with the screen being black when I open the laptop OR sometimes when it finally will come on, the resoluation for the display has changed.  This is happening more often and I cannot figure out what is going.  The laptop makes all kinds of popping and crackling sounds every time I open the laptop.  Sometimes I will have to shut the laptop down, wait a bit and then try to restart it.  Usually that will help for a little bit, but I never know if the laptop is going to work or not.

(1) Run    msinfo32

(2) Start Windows <device manager>

- Expand <Disk drives>

- Expand <Display adapters>

- Expand <Monitors>

- Expand <Network adapters>

- Expand <Sound, video and game controllers>
