Dear HP Support,

I am experiencing a persistent issue with my HP laptop. Initially, while using TradingView, my laptop suddenly showed a blue screen and restarted. It worked fine the next day, but after starting it again, the screen turned black with only the mouse cursor visible. The machine was on, and I could move the mouse, but nothing else responded.

Following instructions from an official HP YouTube video, I performed a hard reset and attempted to recover the BIOS. From the advanced recovery options, I tried startup repair and attempted to uninstall recent updates, but the updates wouldn’t uninstall. I then used the “Reset this PC” option, which temporarily resolved the issue.

However, after restarting, the same black screen error returned. I reset the computer again and updated both Windows and the NVIDIA drivers. During the NVIDIA driver installation, I was prompted to restart the machine. After restarting, the black screen with cursor issue reappeared.

This issue keeps repeating and is severely affecting my ability to use the laptop. Please advise on the next steps or provide support to resolve this problem permanently. Or will i visit to and shop in dubai

@KavinduJ1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Boot into Safe Mode

Turn off your laptop.

Press Shift + Restart from the login screen.

Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

Boot into Safe Mode.

If the black screen doesn’t appear in Safe Mode, the issue is likely with a driver or update.

Uninstall NVIDIA Driver in Safe Mode

Open Device Manager (search in the Start menu).

Right-click NVIDIA Graphics, then choose Uninstall.

Restart and check if the issue is gone.

Run System File Scans

Open Command Prompt (Admin).

Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Let it run and fix issues.

Then type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.

System Restore

Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.

Pick a restore point from before the problem started.

Check BIOS Settings

Restart and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.

Look for options related to Graphics and switch to Integrated Graphics.

Also, disable Fast Boot or Secure Boot if enabled.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
