@VasylPetrovych, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your black screen issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
This sounds like a no display issue where the laptop powers on, but nothing appears on the screen, and there’s no response from the keyboard or external monitor. Here are a few steps:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, peripherals).
- Unplug the power adapter and, if possible, remove the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reinsert the battery (if removable) and connect the charger.
- Power it on and check if the display appears.
Check for Beep Codes or LED Blinks
- If the Caps Lock LED or any other light blinks in a pattern, note the sequence, as it may indicate a hardware failure.
Try an External Display Again
- Connect an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.
- Press Win + P and try switching display modes (if the screen responds).
- If there’s still no output, the GPU or motherboard might be failing.
BIOS Recovery
- Power off the laptop.
- Hold Win + B and then press the power button while still holding those keys.
- If BIOS recovery starts, follow the on-screen instructions.
Let me know if it helps!

This has some useful information, but didn't resolve my problem, so I have a question.
If my LCD screen is not working, then would I be able to connect external monitor and see image on it?

@VasylPetrovych, Thank you for trying the troubleshooting steps! I appreciate your patience.
To answer your question—yes, if only the laptop’s built-in LCD screen is faulty but the rest of the system is functioning properly, you should still be able to see an image on an external monitor. However, if you are not getting any display even on an external monitor, this could indicate a deeper issue with the graphics card, motherboard, or other hardware components.
Just to clarify—when you connected the external monitor, did you see any display on it, or was it also completely black?
Let me know!
