Microsoft Windows 11

I was updating my laptop and after the installation my screen went black and stayed like that. I have tried to reset it however it didn’t help at all. I tried to solve it by windows recovery and factory resetted my device however the windows screen doesn’t show up. There isn’t even cursor. I am unable to do anyything. I have tried to turn on the device by pressing windows + B and bios settings got updated or something but it didn’t help either. The laptop turns on but the display doesn’t work after the boot. Please help me.

Hi @malp003,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop might be experiencing a hardware or software issue that's preventing the display from functioning properly. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • External Display: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable to see if you can get any display output. If you do, it could indicate a problem with your laptop's built-in display.
  • Check Display Settings: If you're able to connect to an external display, check your laptop's display settings to ensure that the correct display is selected and that the resolution settings are appropriate.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: If you can access your laptop's BIOS or Safe Mode, try updating your graphics drivers to the latest version. Sometimes outdated or corrupted drivers can cause display issues.
  • Hardware Reset: Completely power off your laptop, disconnect all external devices, including the power adapter, and remove the battery if it's removable. Then hold down the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power. Reinsert the battery (if applicable), connect the power adapter, and try powering on your laptop again.
  • Check Hardware Connections: If you're comfortable doing so, open up your laptop and check the connections for the display cable. Make sure it's securely plugged in and not damaged.

Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issue with your laptop's display.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello again. It’s been a while since I reached out to you. I was able to resolve my problem by installing fresh Windows 11. However today I encountered the same issue again and luckily I found out that the reason it happens is I go to hybrid mode and the screen never appears however the computer runs in the background perfectly. When I switch back to discrete mode from bios settings display is working fine. How am I supposed to use my computer in hybrid mode? Please advise me. Do I have a chance to apply for an replacement device or something since it is starting to be annoying and it has nothing to do with me. Apparently, it is a failure of the hardware. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.
