Hi @kıvanç01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue with your Victus by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop experiencing screen flickering and black screens with keyboard lights staying on could be due to several factors, including hardware, drivers, or thermal issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and address the problem.

Check Display and Graphics Settings

  • Refresh Rate: Ensure the refresh rate of your screen matches its specifications.
    • Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings.
    • Set the refresh rate to the recommended value.
  • Disable Adaptive Brightness (if applicable):
    • Open Settings > System > Display.
    • Turn off any adaptive or auto-brightness options.

Update Graphics Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your laptop.
  • Alternatively, update directly from the GPU manufacturer:
    • NVIDIA GeForce Experience for NVIDIA GPUs.
    • AMD Adrenalin Software for AMD GPUs.
    • During installation, select the "Custom Install" option and enable "Clean Install."

Perform a Clean Boot

  • To rule out conflicts with third-party software:
    1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    2. Go to the Services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft services," and click Disable all.
    3. In the Startup tab, disable all startup items.
    4. Restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

Check for Thermal Issues

  • Overheating can cause the GPU to throttle or crash:
    • Use software like HWMonitor or Core Temp to monitor CPU/GPU temperatures.
    • Clean any dust from the vents and fans using compressed air.
    • Ensure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface for proper ventilation.
    • Consider using a cooling pad.

Run HP Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP Diagnostic tool.
  • Run a Component Test for:
    • Display Panel
    • Graphics
    • System Board

Reset Power Management Settings

  • Open a Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

powercfg -restoredefaultschemes

  • Restart the laptop.

Test for Hardware Issues

  • External Monitor: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV.
    • If the external display works without flickering, the issue may be with the internal screen or cable.
  • Battery and Adapter: Ensure you're using the original power adapter and that the battery is functioning correctly.

Reinstall Windows (If Necessary)

  • Back up your data and perform a clean installation of Windows.
  • Test the system without additional software to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Alden thanx for your support. I did every step you mentioned but no luck. I called HP support and told them all the story. They said it is a known issue about this model and HP developers are working on it and I should wait for a while. So until next week if they dont find a solution, i will try my luck on change or refund.

Again thanx for your time.
