Microsoft Windows 11

About two days ago, my laptop started flickering with a black screen. I'm unsure of the issue, so I've only rolled back the latest Windows update, KB5058499, so far.

@Gilbertug, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers

Right-click the Start menu, select Device Manager.

Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card.

Select Update driver or Roll back driver if the issue started after a recent update.

Test with External Monitor

Connect your laptop to an external screen (TV/monitor) via HDMI.

If the flickering stops, the issue might be with your laptop’s screen.

If the flickering persists on the external monitor as well, proceed to the next steps.

Run HP Diagnostics

Press ESC when the laptop starts, select Diagnostics, and run the video test.

Check System Files

Open Command Prompt (as Admin), type sfc /scannow, and press Enter.

Try System Restore

Go to Settings > System > About > System Protection.

Click System Restore to go back to a point before the flickering started.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
