I bought a new omen 27’ 1440 240hz monitor, when I was gaming it randomly blacked screened. I could still hear my game going on in my headset. My other monitor was working fine but on the other hand the omen was still black screen but still on

Hi @Dawdy3212,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Experiencing a black screen on your HP Omen monitor while gaming can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Connections:
- Ensure that all cables (DisplayPort, HDMI, power) are securely connected.
- Try using a different cable to rule out a faulty cable issue.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. You can do this through the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel).
Monitor Firmware Update:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your HP Omen monitor on the HP support website.
Refresh Rate and Resolution Settings:
- Ensure that the refresh rate and resolution settings are correctly configured in your operating system and graphics card control panel.
- For Windows, right-click on the desktop -> Display settings -> Advanced display settings -> Display adapter properties -> Monitor tab -> Ensure it's set to 240Hz.
Graphics Card Settings:
- Open your graphics card control panel (NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings) and ensure that the monitor is set to the correct refresh rate.
- Disable G-Sync or FreeSync if they are enabled, and see if the problem persists.
Power Management Settings:
- Go to Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings -> PCI Express -> Link State Power Management, and set it to Off.

Test with Different Ports:
- If possible, try connecting the monitor to a different port on your graphics card.
Monitor Diagnostics:
- Some monitors have a built-in diagnostics feature. Check your monitor's user manual for instructions on how to run it.
Test with Different PC:
- If you have access to another computer, connect the monitor to it and see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the monitor or your primary PC.
Check for Overheating:
- Ensure that your graphics card and monitor are not overheating. Make sure your PC case has good airflow and that the monitor is in a well-ventilated area.
Disable Overclocking:
- If you have overclocked your GPU or monitor, revert to the default settings to see if this resolves the issue.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem with the monitor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
