Please help! Brand new HP Laptop (HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000) - External monitor over USB C is not detected by laptop. Worked fine on old laptop. I tried two different external monitors and the same issue persists. The external monitor is connected via serial adapter to an external adapter connected to USB-C. Other devices (keyboard, webcam, mic) connected to external adapter are all working.

For example: HP Laptop 15s-fq2582TU
Your machine should have SAME ports as the above machine. It ONLY has 1 hopeless SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
