Hi @Rahul276

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with a dim display even when the brightness is set to 100%. You've already tried several common troubleshooting steps, so let's explore a few additional solutions that might help address this issue:

1. Check Power Settings (Battery vs. Plugged In)

Sometimes, the display brightness can be automatically reduced when the laptop is running on battery to conserve power. You can adjust the settings for when your laptop is plugged in and on battery:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery.
  2. Under the Battery section, click on Battery saver and make sure it’s turned off.
  3. Under Display, check the settings for Brightness and ensure that the Brightness when plugged in and Brightness when on battery are both set to the maximum value.

Additionally, you can adjust the Power Plan settings:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  2. Select High Performance to avoid any automatic dimming or battery-saving mode.

2. Adjust the Display with Keyboard Shortcuts

On many laptops, you can adjust the brightness using function keys. For example, pressing Fn + F5 or Fn + F6 (the exact keys depend on your laptop model) can increase or decrease the brightness. Make sure that you're not missing any hardware-based adjustments.

3. Disable Adaptive Brightness

Adaptive Brightness is a feature in Windows that automatically adjusts the brightness of your screen based on ambient light. Sometimes this can cause issues, especially if the sensor isn’t working correctly or the setting is misconfigured.

To disable it:

  1. Open Device Manager (right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager).
  2. Expand the Monitors section and right-click on Generic PnP Monitor.
  3. Choose Properties, go to the Driver tab, and click on Update Driver if an update is available.
  4. If no update is available, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings for your current power plan.
  5. Click on Change advanced power settings.
  6. Expand Display, then Enable adaptive brightness, and turn it off for both on battery and plugged in.

4. Check the Graphics Control Panel (Intel, NVIDIA, AMD)

If you have a dedicated graphics card (like Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD), the graphics control panel could have settings that are affecting the brightness:

  • For Intel Graphics: Right-click on the desktop and select Intel Graphics Settings or Graphics Control Panel. Look for the Display settings and adjust the brightness from there.
  • For NVIDIA: Open NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Display, and look for Adjust desktop color settings or Brightness/Contrast adjustments.
  • For AMD: Open AMD Radeon Settings, go to Display, and check the Brightness setting.

5. Check for Corrupt System Files

Sometimes system files can become corrupt, affecting how brightness is managed. You can run a system file check:

  1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for cmd in the Start menu, right-click, and choose Run as administrator).sfc /scannow
  2. Type the following command and press Enter:
  3. Let the scan complete and follow any instructions to fix any corrupted files.
  4. After the process is complete, restart your laptop and check the brightness.

I hope this helps.
