Hi all,
I am experiencing a somewhat annoying phenomenom when unpluggin my adapter from my laptop.
The brightness of the display drops significantly even though I have set up the same brightness level for both plugged and unplugged on ac adapter.
Does someone know how to solve this issue?
Many thanks!

Thank you for the update.
- Have you reinstalled the battery drivers?
- Did you check the power plan option/settings to change how the screen functions based on the battery or adapter connections?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
- Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
- Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
- Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
- Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Please update the BIOS.
If the issue persists, try the below steps:
Follow this path, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and move the slider to the right corner (full brightness).
(Example screenshot)
once done, unplug the adapter and check if the brightness is good.
Have a nice day!!

Hi Praveen,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, this has not worked out the solution yet. I have tried all the steps regarding the battery drivers. I have reinstalled them and updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the HP website, but my laptop still shows the same behaviour.
Also, if I try the second suggestion I don't have the ' Adjust plan brightness' option in my settings. It just shows this:
Any further ideas?
Regards,
Benito

I understand your concerns.
I would suggest you try creating a new user account on your computer.
Go to http://hp.care/2dWJKgW and follow the steps to create a new user account.
If the issue still persists, please perform the system reset.
Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.
You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.
-
If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.
-
If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.
Have a nice day!!
