Hi @FrancisCalison,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see the brightness key is not working. Could you please perform a power drain?

  • Please Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall socket.
while the computer is ON, hold the power button down and wait for the computer to shut down and still hold the power button down
Please reconnect the charging cable and try to turn on the laptop.

  • Reinstall the Display Driver:
Right-click the Start Menu > Select 'Device Manager'.
Click 'View' > Choose 'Show hidden devices'.
    Expand 'Display adapters'.
Right-click on your display driver > Select 'Uninstall device'.
Check the option 'Delete the driver software for this device'
Select 'Uninstall' > Confirm the uninstallation.
Restart your PC, then check if the issue is resolved.

Please make sure windows and BIOs is up to date. You can check that on HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Francis,

Many Victus users are facing this issue, I came across this forum discussion Brightness will not change on my HP Victus Laptop (Windows 11). - Microsoft Community

(Still, I will have to try the above solution)

HP Technical support Team over a call are suggesting doing an OS reinstall, but I'm pretty sure that will not work.

Following things, I have tried but did not work

1. Reset System with Local Windows install and also cloud windows install

2. HP Technical team shared few display drivers SP152509

3. HP Technical team shared lates BIOS too f1.9

None of the above worked

Hi @HP Support Team / Rachel,

Is there any officially accepted resolution from your end, as many of the users are facing this issue.

I was able to resolve the issue.

Here are the steps I tried, see if they work for you:

You can find the drivers https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/  (Log In to your HP account, so that it's properly filtered based on your model).

I would suggest you go with 3rd Step first, before you attempt for the first two.

  1. Downloaded the latest BIOS available for my specific model on the HP Official Site and installed it.

  2. Downloaded the driver adapters from the official HP website.

There were two AMD High-Definition Graphics Drivers. I tried to install both, starting with the latest and then the                        older one by one, restarting after each installation.

FYI: At this point, the issue still persists.

3.Navigated to Device Manager --> Display Adapters --> Right-clicked on AMD Radeon (TM Graphics) --> Uninstalled Device.    After this, in the top toolbar of Device Manager, there is an option called 'Scan for hardware changes'. I clicked on it.    This shall install Windows Default Adapter, then immediately it installs back the AMD Radeon (TM Graphics).

At this point, I’m able to change the brightness level

Additional Information:

Driver Name: AMD Radeon (TM Graphics)

Driver Version: 31.0.12002.7004

Driver Date: 24-08-2022

Driver Provider: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Best Regards,

Yashas
