The hinge on my HP Envy 13 has broken as can be seen by the images below. As such, this seems like a repair that HP should cover.

Hello, I never got an answer from an HP technician. I was finally able to get it repaired by a local technician:
1. First go to HP Parts store lookup your computer by product number (you can find the product number on the underside of your laptop. HP Parts Store - https://parts.hp.com
2. If the parts are available you can order directly from there. They were not available to me from the Canadian Store, so I ordered from Impact Computer Electronics (http://www.impactcomputers.com/). It cost me about 250 USD plus 25USD shipping. I ordered 4 parts -
- LCD panel,
- LCD back cover,
- Hinge cap right and left,
- hinge kit right and left.
3. Took these back to our local tech store and we had it back in 2 days - good as new!
Not sure if replacing all 4 parts were warranted but the technician felt the screen might have been damaged as it started bulging. So, my advice is to stop opening and closing it and get it repaired as soon as possible. You may then only have to change out the hinge cap and hinge kit which are not that expensive (about 80 USD).
Hope this helps and good luck with your repairs! I myself am disappointed that HP never answered me. This issue started happening soon after the warrantee ended but due to lifer circumstances was only able to put time into getting it fixed these last months.
