HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0055cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just casually opened my ENVY x360 Convertible 13 laptop. The left hinge spontaneously broke, a rectangular piece with what looks like some screws and contacts pushed the screen out, the lower left portion of the screen shattered, and the rectangular piece popped out of the bottom of the screen. Pieces of the screen literally fell off.

Even though the warranty has expired, this is unacceptable for a machine that cost almost $1,000. I have never used the computer in the "Convertible" tablet mode, and it rarely even leaves my desk. One of the selling points of this computer was the supposed durability of the device.

Since I rely on this computer for work, is there an option to rectify this situation?

Hi @MKMCPHD,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that this is a Hardware issue. However, the support here is limited to software troubleshooting. Since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who can schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.

For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
