Overtime the hinges on my laptop started to separate, causing the computer corners to crack and eventually leading to the hinges to complete failure. The screen is now detached to the point that I can rotate it 360 and only attachment to the computer is via wires. At some point the display stopped powering on and as of now I can only use if attached to a remote display/monitor.
Ive checked wires for abrasions, tears or detachment and see no problems visable. The computer powers on no problem and runs great when attached to a monitor.
Do the hinges have a switch to control that would prevent the monitor from powering on if not attached correctly (like a swing arm or something similar ?). Eventually I will correctly replace the hinge kit and ensure monitor is properly affixed but is there a workaround in the meantime to get the monitor on (I would simply prop the screen up from behind with something until properly fixed).
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
