I had brought a hp envy 360 laptop in December 2021. On feb 28th 2022 when I was closing my laptop I heard a cracking sound and when I saw, the left hinge was broken. When I took it for repair, the local professional said this is happening with everyone. After a year just after your warranty gets over, the hinge will break. He advised me to take it to the hp care. The person at hp care said, the replacement of the hinge will be around 15000 INR but if I extend the warranty by paying 16000 INR they will do the repair for free. I smell something fishy as the physical damage is not covered by the warranty. Then I called the customer care to clarify and they said the same thing, physical damage is not covered in warranty. Now when I reached home I found the screen is also broken. This may have happened during my travel. Now they are quoting around 40000 INR for replacement of the screen. I had brought the laptop for 72000 INR and have to pay 40000 INR to get the hinge and screen replaced that too just after 14 months. I don't understand what was my fault. I didn't do anything wrong, however became a victim of dirty business model. Being a middle class Indian guy, it was very difficult for me to arrange the money to buy this laptop and now it will take about 6 more months before I could get 40000 INR to get it repaired. I had a emotional attachment with the laptop. Now for 6 months I won't be able to use the laptop which is another problem.
I won't recommend the HP laptop to anyone, ever. HP broke my trust 😣😣😣

You could replace the hinge(s) yourself if you're reasonably mechanically savvy.
The hinges can be bought, say here: https://www.amazon.com/DBTLAP-Hinge-Compatible-Screen-AM1DO000900/dp/B07SR99HYX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=V475...
(look for this or similar product on Amazon India), and the replacement procedure can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOaEVlzqYgA.
The problem is that it may not just be a hinge that is broken, but the plastic cover around it as well. If that is the case, replacing the hinge(s) is not going to solve your problem, unfortunately.
Kind Regards,

Thank you for your response. Yes you are right. It's not the hinge only. The plastic around it is also broken. And the broken hinge has damaged the display also. Though the display is working yet I can see the cracks on the display. Now I have to replace the entire display assembly which is really a costly affair and I can't afford it now. 😣😣😣
