Hello HP Support Team,
I am experiencing an issue with the built-in webcam on my HP Victus gaming laptop running Windows 11.
The camera was working previously but has stopped working. The Windows Camera app displays error 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached), and the entire Cameras category is missing from Device Manager.
I have already checked the available BIOS settings, performed a power reset, scanned for hardware changes, checked camera privacy settings, and run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. The System Board Test passed, but the camera is still not detected.
I have also checked Windows Update and available driver options, but I have not found a compatible camera driver.
Could HP please help me with the following?
Provide the official download link for the correct camera driver for my laptop model, if a separate driver is available.
Confirm whether a specific chipset driver, firmware update, or other HP software package is required.
Explain how to restore camera detection if no separate camera driver is available.
Advise me on hardware inspection or repair if the issue is hardware-related.
I have already completed the basic troubleshooting steps and would appreciate a solution specific to my laptop.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @JAYA022
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand the built-in camera on your Victus by HP laptop was working earlier but is now completely missing from Device Manager, while the Windows Camera app displays 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached). Thank you for outlining the troubleshooting already completed, including the BIOS check, power reset, hardware scan, privacy settings, Windows Update, and HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
Since the camera is not being detected at the hardware level, the following steps are appropriate for this scenario.
1. Check the HP driver page for the exact configuration
HP provides the official Windows 11 driver download page for the Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 family. The page currently provides operating-system selections including Windows 11 22H2, 23H2, and 24H2 (64-bit). HP Victus 15-fa1000 Software and Driver Downloads
Select the Windows 11 version installed on the notebook and install any applicable HP-provided:
- BIOS update
- Chipset driver
- Intel Serial IO or other system/chipset components listed for the exact configuration
I would not install a camera driver intended for another Victus model. The HP support page should be used to identify software applicable to the exact product configuration. HP's product page confirms 15-fa1000 (9P833AV) as a supported Victus product family.
2. Check Device Manager for an unidentified camera device
In Device Manager:
- Select View > Show hidden devices.
- Check Cameras, Imaging devices, Universal Serial Bus controllers, Other devices, and Unknown devices.
- If the previous camera appears faded under Cameras, right-click it and select Uninstall device, then restart Windows.
- After restarting, select Action > Scan for hardware changes if the device does not return automatically.
If an Unknown Device appears, avoid installing an unrelated camera package simply to force detection.
3. Install HP updates and perform another full shutdown
The official HP troubleshooting page for this model provides access to HP Support Assistant and HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
After installing the applicable BIOS/chipset updates from HP:
- Shut down the notebook completely.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and unnecessary USB devices.
- Press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
- Reconnect AC power and start the notebook.
- Recheck Device Manager.
4. If the camera remains completely absent
The important detail here is that Device Manager does not detect the camera at all. If the camera remains absent from Cameras/Imaging devices and no corresponding unknown device appears after BIOS/chipset updates and a power reset, simply reinstalling the Camera app is unlikely to restore hardware enumeration.
You have also already completed a System Board Test successfully. That result is useful, but the remaining symptom still warrants checking the integrated camera module and its internal connection.
HP provides Warranty & Repair options directly on the support page for this model. HP Support for Victus 15-fa1000 (9P833AV)
For a notebook that is within warranty, I recommend avoiding disassembly and using HP's repair options so the camera module, display/camera cable connection, and related hardware can be inspected safely.
Regarding the separate camera driver
I could confirm HP's official driver page for the Victus 15-fa1000 family, but the accessible HP information does not identify a specific standalone camera-driver package for 9P833AV, so I would not provide an unrelated SoftPaq as a camera driver.
Given everything you have already tested, the best sequence is therefore HP BIOS/chipset updates for the exact configuration → full shutdown/power reset → Device Manager check → HP hardware inspection if the camera remains completely undetected.
This keeps the troubleshooting focused on restoring hardware detection rather than repeatedly reinstalling camera software when Windows is currently reporting that no camera is attached.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
