My camera isn't working.  I've gone through the automated driver updates and virtual assistant but no lock.  My camera isn't showing up in Device Manager.  When I run the camera software, I get 0xA00F4244<No Cameras Are Attached>.

Thoughts?

I looked here and did not see a WebCam driver.  I did notice a video on how to re-install the camera driver.  I assume you already tried that.  Did you try the UEFI diagnostics using the F2 key?  if the camera fails to work during diagnostics it is a hardware problem.

Bring up the Windows device manager an try rolling back the camera driver. Possibly a Windows update installed the wrong driver.

Try rolling back the camera driver

It could be the camera driver or the USB driver if the camera is connected to the USB. Many internal cameras are connected to the USB.

In the pictures below you would select the camera driver and then look for 'rollback' If the word "rollback" is grayed out then uninstall it.  If the camera does now show up under Imaging, Biometric, Camera, USB, then unhide it:

If camera driver is the problem

If you cannot rollback the driver then try to find the best one or let windows try. One way is to just uninstall the camera and reboot as described in this official HP document..

If uninstalling or rolling back did not work then see if there is a windows restore point that has a date from when the camera last worked.

This video describes how to use a restore point.

Let me know if this works or not.  Worst case is you having to do a factory restore
