Hi @Nancy21165,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP camera's power light is on, but it isn't functioning properly, and you're receiving an error code. Here are some general troubleshooting steps you can take:

Reset the Camera:

  • Turn off the camera.
  • Remove the memory card and battery for at least five seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery and close the battery/memory card door.
  • Turn on the camera. Once reset, you may be prompted to set the date and time.

Check the Error Code:

  • Refer to the camera’s user manual, or visit Official HP® Support and search for details about the specific error code you are seeing; error codes often begin with prefixes like "R840", "R830", etc.

Check Connections and Memory Card:

  • Ensure that the memory card is the proper type for your camera.

  • Remove the memory card and see if the camera operates without it; if it does, there may be an issue with the card itself.

  • Try formatting the memory card using the camera if it turns on, or use a memory card reader.

Battery and Power Supply Check:

  • Ensure you've inserted a charged battery correctly.

  • Test the camera with another compatible battery if available.

  • Check if the power adapter or charger is functioning properly.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
