Hello, I'm operating an HP Spectre x360. I did clean install of windows 11 today, and now my laptop does not detect my integrated webcam.  If anyone can advise or help I'd appreciate it. Below are all of the things I've tried already based on what I've found online.

  1. Windows is fully updated including optional updates
  2. I have updated all drivers recommended by the HP detection tool.
  3. I have checked device manager and the camera does not appear there, and it is not hidden from view - I cannot uninstall/reinstall/update.
  4. The camera app gives the error: "0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached"
  5. I have used the camera troubleshooter and it did not help.
  6. The camera privacy switch is not activated. I have toggled it and restarted.
  7. There is no camera shutter key on this model.
  8. I have checked my permission settings to make sure that the camera is accessible to apps.
  9. There is no antivirus software blocking the camera (haven't reinstalled any yet)
  10. There are no drivers for the integrated camera on the HP support page for this device
  11. I cannot switch to the UVC driver because #4 above

    Thank you in advance!

Hi @Mya28

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Please check for the physical button at the side to turn on the webcam.

Here are some additional steps to consider:

1. Check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager

  • In Device Manager, click on the "View" menu and select Show hidden devices. Sometimes, integrated devices can be hidden and might show up there.

2. Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F10 during boot).
  • Look for any settings related to integrated peripherals or the webcam. Make sure that the webcam is enabled.

3. Install Generic Drivers

  • Since your camera isn’t showing up at all, you can try installing the generic drivers:
    • Go to Device Manager, right-click on your computer name at the top, and select Scan for hardware changes. This might prompt Windows to recognize the integrated webcam.
    • Alternatively, you can go to Action > Add legacy hardware and try to manually install the webcam.

4. Windows Update for Optional Drivers

  • Sometimes Windows will provide drivers through optional updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click on View optional updates. If there are any driver updates available, install those.

5. Check for HP Software

  • HP has software that sometimes includes drivers for the webcam. Look for the HP Support Assistant app, which might help identify and install the necessary drivers.

6. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • HP laptops usually come with a diagnostics tool. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to bring up the startup menu. Then, select F2 for diagnostics and check if there's an option to test the camera.

7. Reinstall Windows 11

  • If nothing works, consider doing another clean install of Windows 11. Sometimes, an installation can miss certain drivers or settings, and starting fresh can resolve the issue.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
