HI @TPowell1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop's camera not working!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check the Physical Privacy Shutter

  1. Locate the physical privacy shutter on your laptop. It is typically positioned near the camera.
  2. Slide the shutter to ensure it is open. You should be able to see the camera lens.

Verify Privacy Settings

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Camera.
  3. Ensure that the Camera access and Allow apps to access your camera options are turned on.

Use the Camera Shutter Key

  1. Some HP laptops have a camera shutter key on the keyboard (usually denoted by a camera icon).
  2. Press the shutter key to toggle the camera privacy shutter on or off.

Restart the Camera Application

  1. Close any application using the camera.
  2. Restart the application and check if the camera is now accessible.

Update Camera Driver

  1. Press Win + X (or right-click on Start) and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Cameras and right-click on your camera device.
  3. Select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.

Reinstall Camera Driver

  1. Open Device Manager again.
  2. Expand Cameras, right-click on the camera device and select Uninstall device.
  3. Restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

I hope this helps.
