Windows 11 updated - and now the notebook acts like the camera is not there.
I know from previous experience that I need to reinstall the old camera driver
for HP True Vision 5MP Camera
I think it was
63.22000.131 Intel Corporation 1 August 2023
How do I find it and reinstall it?
Or will this not solve my problem? For the past 9 months I have refused (or had to roll back) driver updates for my camera. Now WIndows just did it without consultation, and I don't know how to roll it back.

Reverting to Windows 11 Version 23H2
Occasionally, compatibility issues can arise with major OS updates. If possible, try reverting back to the previous OS version:
- Go to Settings > System > Recovery.
- Select Go back under "Previous version of Windows."
- After reverting, reinstall the previous camera driver version if needed.
Check for Third-Party Security or Privacy Software
Some security programs or privacy settings may block the camera from being recognized.
- Temporarily disable any security software (e.g., antivirus) and check if the camera becomes accessible.
- Review Privacy Settings: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and confirm that camera access is allowed for apps.

To address this issue with your HP True Vision 5MP Camera, you have a few options to roll back to the previous driver or reinstall the specific version that worked well for you. Here’s a step-by-step guide.
Try Rolling Back the Driver
Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Cameras section, find HP True Vision 5MP Camera, right-click it, and select Properties.
- Go to the Driver tab and look for an option to Roll Back Driver. If it’s available, select it and follow the prompts.
Note: If the Roll Back option is grayed out, it means the previous version of the driver is no longer available on your system.
Reinstall the Driver Version You Need (63.22000.131)
Download the Driver:
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop’s model to access driver downloads. If the exact version isn’t available, HP might still offer a suitable previous driver that works well with your device.
Alternative: Check the Intel Download Center for camera drivers. Search for Intel Corporation Camera Driver and specify Windows 11.
Installation:
- Once you’ve downloaded the driver, go back to Device Manager, right-click on HP True Vision 5MP Camera, and select Update driver.

Thanks for the options, but I haven't succeeded with any of them:
Try Rolling Back the Driver Device Manager: it's grayed out
Download the Driver: HP Support website: my notebook is HP Envy x360 13.3 inch 1-in-1 Laptop PC 13-bf0000(552D6AV) Product 6X0Q9PA. Until 11/11/2024 running Windows 11 version 23H2 for x64-based systems (KB5044380) - now updated to Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5044384). I am presented with a list of 12 categories of 'software and drivers'. There isn't a category for 'camera' and I can't find the camera driver under any of the headings.
Download the Driver Intel Download Center: I downloaded the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA). When run, it identifies a number of devices and drivers on my system - but no camera driver (perhaps because the system is refusing at admit that a camera is present).
Use Windows Update to Look for Optional Drivers: There are no optional updates available at this time. Under the update history 50 driver updates are listed. None of them say 'True vision' or 'camera'
The driver that was previously installed may have been 63.22000.131 released 1 August 2023, or slightly more likely the version before that.

Here are some more advanced methods to address your HP True Vision 5MP Camera issue.
Verify Camera Hardware Recognition
If the camera is not appearing in Device Manager, it may be disabled at the hardware level.
- Access BIOS/UEFI: Restart your computer and press the key to enter BIOS/UEFI (usually F10, F2, or Delete).
- Look for Camera Settings: Under Security or Advanced settings, check if there's an option for "Integrated Camera." Ensure it’s enabled.
- Save and Exit: Save any changes and restart your computer.
Check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager
Sometimes, hardware may be hidden.
- Open Device Manager.
- Go to View > Show Hidden Devices.
- Expand Imaging devices or Cameras and look for HP True Vision 5MP.
- If found, right-click > Uninstall device (check "Delete the driver software" if prompted).

I couldn't find the driver, and decided to revert to the previous version of Windows and then mark the driver as not to be updated. The whole operating system fell apart, and I am still trying to get everything back together again. But my camera works,
