Microsoft Windows 11

The camera on icon is always on for some reason and the fan is getting needlessly loud despite nothing being open. I have checked my antivirus software and i have uninstalled in camera driver but it doesn't go away. I have just purchased this laptop and am quite happy with it otherwise, however this issue is making it very difficult to do some things.

@Pavioli

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that,  let's use the Task Manager to close a program:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Task Manager.

    If the Task Manager window opens with tabs across the top, click Fewer details in the lower-left corner.

  2. To close a program, select it, and click End task.

    Closing a program

    The program closes. The program might restart.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have made no changes to my laptop settings and it was working fine just a few weeks ago.

Apologies for the very late response, however the camera icon disappeared at the time, however it has returned as it normally tends to. This is what the camera icon looks like.
