My camera won't work and has these dashed lines across the lens. I've tried deleting and redownloading the driver. When I attempt to use my camera it just shows a black screen, but my light is on as if something is accessing my camera.

Hi @Emma1831,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are facing issues with the camera.
If the camera on your HP ENVY 17.3 Inch Laptop PC 17m-Ch0000 (23T02AV) is not working, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
First, check if there is any camera switch on the sides of the laptop that is on or off.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Expand the "Imaging devices" or "Cameras" category.
- If you see your camera listed, right-click on it and select "Uninstall device." Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the camera driver.
Update Camera Driver:
- Visit the HP support website for your laptop model.
- Go to the "Drivers & Downloads" section and download the latest camera driver for your laptop.
- Install the driver and restart your computer.
Check Camera Privacy Settings:
- Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
- Click on "Privacy" and then select "Camera" from the left sidebar.
- Ensure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.
- Scroll down and make sure that the toggle under "Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your camera" is also turned on for the apps you want to use the camera with.
Check Antivirus Settings:
- Some antivirus programs may block the camera. Check your antivirus settings to ensure that the camera is not being blocked.
- Temporarily disable the antivirus and check if the camera works. If it does, you may need to add an exception for the camera in your antivirus settings.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates can include fixes for camera issues.
Perform a System Restore:
- If the camera was working before and stopped after a recent change, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when the camera was working. This will not affect your personal files.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the camera, and you may need to contact HP phone support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
