Good Afternoon.
I bought a HP ENVVY 17-cr0xxx last June and I have had some issues with the camera. At first I thought that I had a problem with Windows but It seems it isn't the problem.
Two weeks ago I had a meeting using Google Meet and the camera worked. Now I can't use the camera and I need it.
If someone knows how to help I appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Hi @anajulia0404,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 17's camera was working fine during a Google Meet session two weeks ago but is not working now, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Check Camera Privacy Settings:
- Make sure that the camera is not physically covered or blocked.
- Check the camera privacy settings in Windows. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and ensure that the "Allow apps to access your camera" toggle is turned on.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that your camera drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, finding the camera under "Imaging devices," right-clicking on it, and selecting "Update driver."
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve software glitches. Restart your computer and check if the camera starts working again.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for any available updates.
Check Camera in Another Application:
- Open another application that uses the camera, such as the Camera app or Skype, to see if the issue is specific to Google Meet. If the camera works in other applications, the problem may be with Google Meet.
Browser Permissions:
- If you are using a web browser for Google Meet, check the browser's settings to make sure it has permission to access the camera. This is usually found in the browser's settings or under site permissions.
Clear Browser Cache:
- Clear the cache and cookies in your web browser. Sometimes, accumulated data can cause issues.
Try Another Browser:
- If you are using Google Meet in a browser, try using a different browser to see if the issue persists.
Check Google Meet Settings:
- Within Google Meet, check your settings to ensure that the correct camera is selected. During a meeting, click on the gear/settings icon and verify the camera settings.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Some third-party software or antivirus programs may interfere with the camera. Temporarily disable such software and see if the camera starts working.
Reinstall Camera Drivers:
- If updating the drivers doesn't resolve the issue, you may want to uninstall the camera drivers in the Device Manager and then restart your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
Remember to back up important data before making significant changes to your system. I
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4.
Thanks a lot for you detailed answer!
When I wrote the post, I had had a 45 minutes assistance from Microsoft. She checked almost all the things you listed including the drivers. She told me that the drivers wasn't available. She unistalled the antivirus too, because one of the messages related to the malfunctioning of the camera was about the antivirus. We finished our conversation without the problem solved, and I posted my issue here.
Yesteday I received a notification about a Windows update, and I executed it.
At night I saw your message, I tested the camera and it was working, I mean I entered in the settings page and when I clicked on Camera Privacy Settings I could activate it . So I don't know if the antivirus was blocking something and the Windows uptading could install the programs I needed. I don't know really.
Your answer was very complete and I would bookmarked in case of something went wrong again.
Thanks a lot!
