HP-ay141tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all.

I have a HP-ay141tu which I purchased approximately 2.5 years ago. The camera and microphone stopped working so I did a full reformat which helped with the microphone.

The camera apparently cannot be found.

It is not showing up in device manager.

I have installed all updates (including drivers) from both windows and HP.

There have been a few fixes posted online and I have tried them all.

The only thing I have not done is pull apart the laptop to see if the camera is plugged in correctly as this is something I don't feel comfortable doing myself.

Do the experts have any idea of anything I could try to avoid having to pull the back off and have a look please?

I'm running windows 10 and use chrome as my browser.Capture.JPG

@K1313 How was the reset attempted, did you make use of the HP Recovery partition (F11) or did you use the HP recovery media?
If you don't have an HP Recovery media and have attempted reset using the windows troubleshooter or a retail copy of windows, you'll need to order a recovery media: Click here for steps.

Or you may also attempt to download the same using the steps on this link: click here

For details on how to perform a successful reset: click here

If the issue persists after you've used the HP recovery media as well, that's highly unlikely, however you may use this link to troubleshoot the same: click here for details.

Thanks so much for the advice.

I resetted it using the inbuilt HP recovery media.

All is working now correctly and I'm not really sure how it happened to be honest. I had downloaded the drivers both from windows and also from HP website. Some of the drivers failed to install but I persisted and kept trying until eventually all drivers installed correctly.

Then over the last few days, windows had several updates and some of them took a really long time. There was one which restarted my laptop several times and took hours. I think it was a security update.

But alas, all is well now and I appreciate that you took the time to help me.
