Camera not working. Message mentions that may be covered (how?) or some key in the keyboard or some other key in the side. Nothing found. All authorizations granted in the setup.

No clues.

There is micro tiny lid in the upper part of the camera, which was almost stuck. When I finally could move it, the camera start to work nicely. If you can see like a grid covering the lens, then the lid is on.

Hi @ardilesd,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The message indicating the camera is "covered" often refers to this physical slider rather than a software setting.

Here is how to resolve this, based on your description:

  • Locate the Privacy Shutter: Look closely at the bezel immediately above the camera lens. There is usually a micro-slider, often colored red or showing a grid pattern when covering the lens.

  • Slide to Uncover: Use your fingernail to slide the tiny lever to the left or right to expose the lens.

  • Check for Stuck Slider: Since you mentioned it was nearly stuck, it may require slightly firmer pressure to move it the first time.

  • Alternative Keyboard Key: If there is no slider on the lens, check the keyboard top row (F-keys, often F8-F12 or a dedicated camera key) for a key with a camera icon. Press this key (or \(Fn\) + that key) to toggle the electronic shutter.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
