Hi @Blackmetalmania,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
There are several possible reasons why your HP laptop camera may not be working on Google Meets or Chrome. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check the camera settings: Make sure that the camera is enabled and selected as the default camera in the settings of both Chrome and Google Meets. You can do this by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner of Chrome, selecting "Settings," and then scrolling down to the "Privacy and security" section. Under "Site settings," select "Camera" and make sure that Google Meets is allowed to use your camera.
- Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can fix camera issues.
- Check for updates: Make sure that Chrome and your operating system are up-to-date, as outdated software can cause compatibility issues with your camera.
- Clear cache and cookies: Clearing your cache and cookies can help resolve issues with web applications like Google Meets. To do this, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of Chrome, select "More tools," and then "Clear browsing data."
- Disable browser extensions: Certain browser extensions may interfere with your camera. Try disabling them temporarily to see if that fixes the issue.
- Check for malware: Malware can sometimes interfere with your camera. Run a malware scan on your computer using a trusted antivirus program.
- Check hardware: If none of the above solutions work, it's possible that there is a hardware issue with your camera. Check the device manager to ensure that your camera is recognized and installed correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
