Hi @eketman1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your camera is not showing in Device Manager, so it isn’t being detected by the system. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check camera privacy settings

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Make sure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned on.

Check for hidden devices in Device Manager

Open Device Manager → click View → Show hidden devices.

Look under Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers.

Check BIOS settings

Restart the laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing F10 at startup).

Look for Integrated Camera / Webcam and ensure it is Enabled.

Save changes and exit.

Run Windows Update

Go to Settings → Windows Update and install all available updates.

Optional updates may include camera or chipset drivers needed for detection.

Install or reinstall the camera driver

Open Device Manager → check for Unknown devices or devices with a warning icon.

If found, right-click and select Update driver.

You can also install the camera or chipset driver from the HP software and drivers page for your laptop model.

Check for a physical camera switch or key

Some HP laptops have a camera privacy shutter or a function key (Fn + camera icon).

Make sure it is not turned off.

Test with the Camera app

Open the Camera app in Windows.

If it reports no camera found, this confirms the system is not detecting the hardware.

I hope this helps.
