Enable hidden devices and look for your camera

if the device is unknown to windows then this article might be useful.

Possibly the "unknown" device is the camera.

Look at the keyboard function keys for a camera icon such as

if you see anything like that the press it and see if the camera starts working. It could also be a physical device such as a switch or a cover that closes over the lens. Some AIOs have an On Screen Display and that might have camera control for on/off. I do not have your particular system so am guessing.

Official HP camera troubleshooting guide read this.

Microsoft recommended troubleshooting windows 11, 10

1 - Try a repair of windows system files. From the administrator command prompt enter as explained below

SFC /scannow

How to use SFC or DISM to repair Windows

just do the SFC. If you see a message that corrupted files were fixed then reboot. The only time to do the DISM is if the SFC reports it found problems but cannot repair it.

2 - Did this happen recently, like just after a windows update?

Try rolling back the driver
Did you try rolling back the camera driver?

It could be the camera driver or the USB driver if the camera is connected to the USB. Many internal cameras are connected to the USB.

In the pictures below you would select the camera driver and then look for 'rollback'

If camera driver is the problem

If the problem is the wrong USB driver for the camera

If you cannot rollback the driver then try to find the best one or let windows try. One way is to just uninstall the camera and reboot as described in this official HP document..

The below post, unfortunately, is complicated but is useful if there is no camera drivers at the HP website to download.

Let me know what you find out.

Hi BeemerBiker,

thx for replying, i have done the step by step but the error still persist
1. Try repair of windows system -> Already
Scan with Windows PowerShell the result is
- Verification 100% complete.
- Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

CMD Check.png
Scan with CMD the result is
- The component store is repairable.
- The operation completed successfully.

2. Did this happen recently, like just after a windows update? -> no , suddenly cant use camera while i google meet
- i cant roll back driver because disable, only Driver details and update Driver has Enable

If i shutdown and take a while 20 second, in Device Manager show the Driver Camera, but suddenly disappear if i use Camera Apps / Google Meet

Camera Show.jpg

but if i use Camera Apps , Cameras and Camera DFU Device are Hidden

Thank you for the detailed information.  I did not notice you had discovered the show hidden worked before running the camera app.

Please verify that the webcam works.  You have a new laptop and the camera driver date of 21/06/2006 is clearly too old.

I cannot account for how a 2025 laptop somehow got a 2006 camera driver.

You should also have an "IR" camera driver but I do not see it.

Check to see if there is a hardware problem: Watch this video.
Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics and select the webcam test.
If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty

in the Verify Webcam Privacy Settings:

  • Some HP laptops have a webcam privacy switch or shutter key. Ensure that these are set to enable the webcam (source).

Check in BIOS/UEFI:

  • Boot into BIOS/UEFI settings and see if there is any mention of enabling/disabling the webcam. Some models allow direct hardware toggling from the BIOS settings.

------try this-----

in the device manager, delete all references to the camera

click the "scan for hardware changes" option at the top of the device manager

if the camera shows up but is not working then find the VEN and the PID numbers so the camera can be identified. It could be realtek, mediatek or intel.  I looked here but did not see any WebCam drivers.

I did see realtek and amd mentioned so I know it is not Intel.  The below image shows how to find the VID and PID.  example the IR camera ID is 0408 and 545E

ha43hvue.bmp

The manufacturer is Quanta as shown here

use that site to find the manufacturer of your camera and the driver.  Note that the driver for the Quanta was not found by that devicehunt site.

I do not know the your camera manufacturer, but try any of the drivers below that are dated 2024

if your VID and PID indicate one of the below.

You can always do a factory restore from the cloud

HP is removing cloud recovery for system over 5 years old.
The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires
You may want to get a copy of the cloud recovery before it is too late.
Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go here and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 64gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB.
Alternately, download from the MS windows store

If you do a factory restore, bring up the device manager and make a note of the driver so it can be selected in the future should the problem happen again.  if you know the version and name of the camera driver you can always have the device manager find  it by "browsing".

I am sorry this is such a problem but HP (and other OEM) do not always list the camera driver as a download on every laptop.
