@drakosis, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue where the camera on your Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop (15-fa0000) is not turning on, even though the camera light is blinking and it's undetected in system settings:
Check Device Manager
Ensure the camera is not disabled or hidden:
- Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- If the camera is listed:
- Right-click → Enable device (if disabled).
- If not listed, click View > Show hidden devices.
Reinstall the Camera Driver
If the camera is missing or not working:
- In Device Manager, right-click the camera (if visible) → Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
- If not, download the latest camera driver from HP: Official HP® Support
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
Use HP’s built-in diagnostics to test the camera:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly → then press F2.
- Select Component Tests > Camera and follow the prompts.
Check Windows Privacy Settings
Make sure apps are allowed to use the camera:
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned On.
Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
Outdated firmware can cause hardware detection issues:
- Visit the HP Support Page.
- Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
If the issue persists after these steps, it could be a hardware fault. In that case, I recommend please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
