Hi @Fiveallens95,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the camera on your HP ENVY x360 is not working, there are several potential reasons and troubleshooting steps you can take.
Check for Physical Obstructions:
- Ensure that there is nothing physically covering the camera lens.
- If your laptop has a physical camera shutter, make sure it's open.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Look for the "Imaging devices" category.
- If there's a yellow triangle or an error message next to your camera, there may be an issue with the driver.
Update Camera Drivers:
- Right-click on the camera device in Device Manager and select "Update driver."
- Choose to search for updated driver software automatically.
Roll Back Camera Drivers:
- If updating the driver doesn't work, you can try rolling back to a previous version.
- Right-click on the camera device, select "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.
Check Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and make sure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve hardware and software issues.
Run Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes, third-party applications may interfere with the camera.
- Try disabling or uninstalling recently installed apps to see if the issue persists.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check the HP support website for your laptop model and see if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available. Updating the system firmware may resolve hardware-related issues.
Restore System:
- If none of the above steps work, you may consider restoring your system to a previous point when the camera was working correctly.
Remember to back up your important data before performing any significant changes to your system. If the problem is still unresolved, it could indicate a hardware malfunction, and you may need to have the camera inspected or repaired
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
