Elitebook 850 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

According to the specs, my HP Elitebook has two video related ports:

* a HDMI port for HDMI 1.4b,

* and a USB-C 3.1 port (thunderbolt: "USB 3.1 Type-C port (with Thunderbolt support)"

I want to buy an external monitor, with 3440x1440 pixels, at 60 Hz

this is the monitor: IIyama 34 inch XUB3493WQSU-B1 : https://iiyama.com/gl_en/products/prolite-xub3493wqsu-b1/

I know that HDMI 1.4 does only 3440x1440 at 30Hz.

My question is: can I get the monitor working on 3440x1440 at 60 Hz when using a USB-C to Displayport cable?

The "thunderbolt support" from the specs of my notebook is not specified as thunderbolt 1, 2, or 3 or whatever.

@mink4

Manual clearly says  (page 5, item (8)) that port is USB Type-C power connector and Thunderbolt™ port with HP Sleep and Charge which allows to connects a display device that has a USB Type-C connector, providing DisplayPort output

I don't think USB-C to DisplayPort cable would give 3440x1440 as  designed.

Regards.

Thanks @Banhien for the fast answer, and the link to the manual!

I have one question left, regarding your doubt about the 3440x1440 @60Hz:
I read in the same manual, just in Chapter 1  "Product Description", under "Graphics" for the external graphics:

Supports HD decode, DX12, HDMI 1.4b, HDCP 2.2 via DisplayPort™up to 4K @ 60 Hz and via HDMI up to 4K @ 30 Hz.

I learned that 4K has more pixels than 3440x1440.

Can I conclude that that can be achieved by using an USB-C to Displayport adapter cable connected between the USB-C port of the notebook and the Displayport of the monitor?

I tried it and bought a USB-c to Displayport cable (for Displayport version 1.2).

When I connect it to the USB-c port next to the power inlet, I am able to drive an external monitor in 3440x1440 @75 Hz mode (!).

Using Windows 10 professional, and having the desktop in 'extended mode'.

A big area of screens, and it works.
