hp 15-ac121dx

I bought an hp 15-ac121dx for a friend* a while back, but not long ago. A few days ago she called me to tell me, when she got home the laptops screen was cracked and spoilt.

so, I checked the price for a new touch screen replacement, and low and behold: its freaking expensive. All I want to know is: can I buy any of the old LCD or LED laptops screens and replace it?

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP 15-ac121dx Notebook and needing to know about the LCD touch panel replacement.  Here is a link to your service manual page 31, this shows me you can replace the LCD panel with a non Touchscreen. Part number 747131-001.

Please let me know how this goes.

Hi, I am glad for your reply. I have tried several LED with that part number and non ever worked.

In some, the Laptop will boot but nothing shows up on the screen. In others it doesn't boot at all. But when I replace it with the cracked touch LED it boots normal and the screen turns on.

I have been told by several repairers that I will have to buy a touch, and that is impossible to get. no one sells that, not even online.

My only option is the non-touch which doesn't work too.

Hi @johnlightrex,

Are you changing the Digitizer or display cable too? Does the Notebook work while connected to a Monitor?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi @Mrstenter,

I am changing the whole led display, I have not tried changing the cable. Also , there isn't any port to connect an external monitor.

Here is an image of the screen:

Hi @johnlightrex,

Your system has a HDMI connection on it to connect a Monitor.

That is a defective LCD screen that you have installed. Physical damage to the Polarize, which does not damage the glass. Dents may be observed when the LCD is illuminated and may appear as ghosted white lines or with dark display patterns. Polarized dents are most likely to appear as pockmarks caused by a strike to the display.

Changing the screen with old ones might not be helping. How could you ensure the old one was working correctly?

You also need to change the cable with the Notebook.

Here is a document that shows you how to restore BIOS factory default settings after you replace the screen. That way it will look at the Hardware installed on the Notebook.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hi, I am new to the forum but I have a similar problem. I have a HP 23" Envy touch smart all-in-one pc (model 23-d055). The glass screen cracked but the replacement part for the touchscreen (MT9D231C55102) is very expensive. There is one that is less expensive but the connections are not located in the same spot. Unfortunately I don't have the experience to figure it out. Is it possible to get a replacement screen that is compatible without the touch feature? If so, would you by chance know the part number?
