I need to connect my laptop to two external monitor (in addition to laptop monitor). The laptop hdmi port connects fine to my first monitor's hdmi port but I can't get the USB Type-C 3.1 Gen1 (the stated version) to connect to the other monitor. I've tried three different usb type to hdmi adaptors.
According to the user guide this is possible (see below). Please can you assist?
From page 4 of the guide that came with the laptop (C:/Program%20Files/HP/Documentation/platform_guides/ug/923854-001.pdf):
When the computer is on, connects and charges a USB device that has a Type-C connector, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, or smartwatch, and provides high-speed data transfer. – or – Connects to various USB, video, HDMI, and LAN devices.

Hi @MrMikeB ,
Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Barachiel is at your service.
I understand you are in need of support,
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
When was the last time it worked without these issues?
In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:
I recommend you try with an alternate device, apart from the two adapters to confirm the issue or the cause of the failure, for details about the USB Type-C port:
USB Type-C is a smaller, reversible USB connector that can transmit data, video, audio, data (USB 3.1) as well as provide charging power to many devices (USB Power Delivery or PD).
USB Type-C video modes (alternate mode): USB Type-C ports support adapters that can output different types of video such as HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort, all from one USB type-C port on your computer or device.
USB Type-C power delivery (USB PD): USB Type-C power delivery is bi-directional, so a device can either send or receive power. This power can be transferred at the same time the device is transmitting data across the connection.
For more information about USB Type-C see http://www.usb.org/developers/usbtypec/.

Let me know how that pans out. 🙂
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help. 😉

Thanks for response.
I tried it with a vga adapter - didn't work. So that's four in total.
Can you confirm that my model supports usb-c to hdmi? Model is
14-bp026na
The specification suggests that it may support it but it is not entirely clear.
The relevant excerpt was pasted in my original post.
thanks
Mike

It looks like you were interacting with @Barachiel, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.
I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:
Here are the specifications of your device: Click here to view (Does not have thunderbolt port & therefore, USB-c to HDMI may not work).
I'm afraid USB Type C to HDMI only works with a thunderbolt post as tested by HP,
Other options without the thunderbolt port may work, however, they aren't tested and may not work on HP devices.
I hope that helps!
Let me know how that pans out
